I bought this 7″ LCD screen from Frys on clearance for only $5. It has a weird connector to connect to the companies DVD player or something. I rewire it to work on Composite input (RCA plugs). I also make it Touchscreen for the computer using a USB transcriber
I start by stripping the wires to the Touchscreen sensor
I then add a heat shrink
Now to solder.
Then heat the heatshrink
I use bubble wrap to protect the LCD.
I open the TV.
Then remove the LCD screen from the bezel.
This is the Touchscreen to USB converter board. But those connectors are thick and have to go.
I remove it and solder the wires directly.
Those damn connectors…
I added heatshrink then solder the rest of the wires (be sure the USB wire goes through the tv case first before soldering.
Now the heatshrink has been heated.
I close the case to make sure everything fits inside (the touch screen transcriber and the USB curcuit board.
Its all good, but a tight fit.
Here is the TV model I used… if your interested.
I followed the Pinout on the circuit board to wire power and video.
I labeled each wire. (use a meter to verify correct wire)
There was a problem with this TV (maybe why it was $5), The LCD light didnt light up because a loose connector!
YAY IT WORKS!
Now to Solder the Composite conectors to input video.
I label them VID 1 and VID 2
I hooked it up to my computer and the video works and so does the Touchscreen.
Everything may work as planned, but this TV is low quality video (Composite quality).
Its Great as a media player remote. I am sure it can be used for lots of things.
I think it would have been a lot easier to just buy one of these: HDMI Display 7 Inch 1024X600 LCD with Touch Screen (Amazon)
