Make a company banner.

We wanted to make a banner to advertise HowToEngineering.com at the Maker Faire we will be at December 3, 2016.

We are on a very tight budget. We just purchased some folding tables to make our life a little easier and before that we purchased a canopy.

This DIY Banner is super simple and super cheap!

I made a design 4 pages wide and 2 pages tall using banner making software I purchased almost 10 years ago! It was really struggling to design because it did not like high quality pictures and did not like transparency in pictures!

After that mess, I then printed the 8 page design – 4 pages on the top and 4 on the bottom.

1

Then I used my Laminator (Amazon) and Laminator sheets (Amazon) to laminate all 8 pages.

2

Here are the supplies I used:

-Packaging tape (Amazon)
-Hollow hole punches (Amazon)
-Rivet gun and pop rivets (Amazon)
-Grommet tool kit (Amazon)
-HP Color Laser Printer (Amazon)
-Laminator (Amazon)
-Laminator sheets (Amazon)

3

I used the 3mm punch

4

The rivets I used are the perfect size.

6

I started by lining up the pages and taping them in the center. I used about 4″ pieces.

7

Now that the pages are aligned and taped, I can punch the holes for the rivets that will hold this together.

8

A few taps with the hammer and we now have a 3mm hole.

9

The rivet fits perfectly.

10

I find the proper fitting for my rivet gun to fit the rivet.

11

I then move that tip over to the rivet gun and It’s ready.

12

2 pulls on the handle and I have a rivet. (Be careful not to pinch your fingers)

13

I do not like how high the back is, So I used a hammer and flattened it out, This also makes a wider surface to hold this together better.

14

Now the Left rivet is done. I will now add one to the center of the 4 pages.

15

The hole is punched, then a rivet is added.

16

Rivet is being put in the bottom next. Then the top.

17

I now have all the rivets added.

18

Now its time to use the grommet kit I have.

19

The first step is to punch out the hole using the included punch.

20

It also included the block of wood to punch into.

21

Now its time to install the grommet.

22

After everything is positioned correctly, I used a hammer to tap the top.

23

We now have a completed banner to advertise HowToEngineering.com

The top banner is made with an old banner making kit… but the sticker paper was peeling after the Glendale college swap meet so we made another banner to use for the DTLA Maker Faire.
