ROBOTS made from Scrap Parts!

1

My wife and I made a few of these when we were first dating. We wanted to make more to show people at the Maker Faire and write an article on here.

We used old circuit parts (Mostly scrapped from old electronics) and also some connectors, buttons, and even springs and nuts! Almost Anything will work as this is ART!

Play the video above to see a time lapse of Lupe and I making these art robots made from old electronic parts.

The first step we did was gather a unique collection of parts and make shapes with them. Get ideas by playing with the parts. Sometimes a part with speak to you and the rest will just come.

Glue: We used hot glue (Amazon) for this article, but Super/crazy glue (Amazon) would have been better. Epoxy (Amazon) would also have been a good choice. The problem I have with hot glue is if the part is moved the glue can loosen.

Soldering: Parts can also be soldered. When my wife and I started dating, we actually soldered our Circuit Robots, which are still together to this day. But to be soldered all parts need to have some metal on each end.

Here is how my robot dude was made:

For my 4 legged animal made from CONNECTORS, I started by laying out all the parts before gluing anything.
